Sociolinguistics Symposium 25

The 25th Sociolinguistics Symposium (SS25) brought together leading international sociolinguists to explore themes of ordinariness and innovation in language. The symposium served as a dynamic platform for developing and exchanging new ideas, expanding the discipline, and fostering international academic networks. Participants examined the complex interplay between linguistic innovation and the everyday realities of diverse communities, including Indigenous, migrant, and minority languages. HKU RIICH participated in this influential gathering, engaging with the discussions around language practices, policy, and the development of innovative technologies to support linguistic diversity and social justice.
