From a Paper to a Published Paper: An Ongoing Journey
December 7, 2026

What turns a piece of academic work into a paper that can travel successfully through the publication process, and what does it take to move from novice to expert author and researcher? This two-part workshop explores these questions through an overview of the development of a research agenda and an academic voice, followed by practical examples of how researchers can transform academic work into a manuscript suitable for submission to a leading international journal.
Writing and publishing are not a “fixed outcome” but an ongoing process. Through discussions of published papers and practical examples, participants will explore what successful papers have in common, including how they establish and articulate their contribution. Participants will work towards a practical checklist for assessing their own manuscripts and develop an action plan for revision and re/submission. The workshop is designed to encourage researchers to see publication not simply as the final stage of a project, but as part of the process of developing scholarly judgement, confidence and voice.
Registration will open soon.
